Saturday is London Derby day, which is always a tricky one for Fantasy Managers. It's an unpredictable fixture: although Chelsea are by far the favourites going into this game, Arsenal have yet to lose to the Blues in a WSL game at the Emirates. The Gunners also have a chip on their shoulder following a poor showing in the midweek Champions League loss.
Do you play it safe and avoid any Chelsea or Arsenal players, or are you ready to take a last-minute gamble that could catapult you to the top of your leagues? Let's break it down.
Going for goal(keepers)
This is one area you might want to steer clear of. Both teams have goalies that have racked up the Fantasy points already this season, but with it being an away game for Hampton, as well as the uncertainty around whether Zinsberger or van Domselaar will bag the number one shirt, anything could happen. It might be best to look elsewhere in the WSL for your star goalie in GW4.
Reiten and Rytting Kaneryd
Ok, it may be an unpredictable fixture on paper, but these two are far from unpredictable. Scoring a total of 19 and 15 points respectively, in just two Gameweeks, you need at least one on your team. Even if Chelsea lose, you can guarantee this Scandi duo will have put in a shift. But hey, if you don't want to listen to us, ask The Scout instead.
Arsenal's midfield maestro
Similarly to Chelsea, Arsenal has a weapon in midfield that might earn you some serious points, win or lose. Frida Maanum has displayed a constant threat to Arsenal's opposition this season. Could the Gunners capitalise on this?
Defending her Bonus Points
Katie McCabe is Fantasy WSL's second-highest scoring defender, who has earned herself Bonus Points in two of her three fixtures so far. She displayed immense attacking threat against Bayern midweek, and has spoken about her desire to put everything into the game this weekend. If you're willing to gamble on an Arsenal win, McCabe might be the one for you.
Defending her crown
We can't talk about defenders without talking about Lucy Bronze. A safer bet, but also a more popular one, Bronze is the highest scoring defender in the game, and is very likely to start against Arsenal this weekend. She's only played two games, but she's got two clean sheets and a goal. We like those odds.
A goalscorer with something to prove
Alessia Russo has only been at Arsenal for a year, but has already become a staple of the Arsenal vs Chelsea fixture. Her two goals in last year's 4-1 for the Gunners at the Emirates lit the stadium on fire, and given her less impressive start to the season, she'll be hoping to do the same again this time around. Once again, this is a gamble, but it could very well pay off.
A hidden gem
Let's talk Visionaries - yes, they exist in these teams too. We're talking about Cat Macario. You're welcome.
Are you ready to take a gamble on the Gunners, or bet on the Blues? Or will you be focusing your point scoring on other teams in the table? Whatever your strategy, we're in for an action-packed weekend. Enjoy!
