The Scout has been studying the fixtures and keeping an eye on the competition during the WSL break, and has all the top tips and tricks to get you in first place in Gameweek 14.

Goalkeeper & Defence

D'Angelo Leicester City have scored in three of their last four WSL games but remain the division's lowest scorers by a long way - there's still no better game to target for an Aston Villa clean sheet. A couple of things recommend Sabrina D'Angelo in goal: Villa were impressive against Chelsea the other week, and there is past form for their goalkeepers doing well against Leicester even before the Foxes' struggles in front of goal this season. When these two met at the Pirelli Stadium last season, Daphne van Domselaar collected a bonus point en route to an 8-pointer in a 1-0 win.

Le Tissier & Riviere Manchester United have the league's best defensive record and face Crystal Palace at home next up - this calls for a double up at the back in GW 14. Between their rock-solid minutes and bonus points upside (they are United's top two accumulators this season), Jayde Riviere and captain Maya Le Tissier are the top choices. In the reverse fixture in December, this pair combined for 17 points.

Charles You have to go back to October 2022 for the last time Everton scored a WSL goal against Chelsea; despite the Toffees' general improvement in front of goal since the reverse fixture in November, you'd fancy Chelsea's defence to add to their nine WSL clean sheets this season. Back to a full workload the last couple of weeks, look no further than Niamh Charles for your Chelsea defensive cover. The clean sheet plus her bonus points and attacking upside makes her a slam dunk.

McCabe Back from suspension and heading into a tasty North London Derby, Katie McCabe is a must-have in GW 14. Spurs have a single goal in their last five WSL games against Arsenal; clean sheet points are definitely on the table. Plus, McCabe's got attacking chops and a shot at bonus points: she got one of the latter in the reverse fixture back in November.

Midfielders

Toone It can't be overstated just how favourable a matchup Crystal Palace is for Manchester United's midfielders in GW 14. The Eagles have given up the joint-most bonus points to opposition mids this season; the lowest points total for any bonus-winning midfielder against Palace is eight, and there have been four double-digit hauls. At United, Ella Toone is where secure minutes meet attacking upside. The high ceiling is very tempting.

Reiten Sonia-roulette in the last few Chelsea games is particularly maddening ahead of a tasty home fixture against Everton in GW 14. There's admittedly less safety in Guro Reiten now than three weeks ago, but she's the Chelsea asset you probably have the best odds with - the champions' top scorer, on penalties and a share of set pieces, and a shot at bonus in a fantastic game is worth risking diminished minutes.

Gorry A bonus points machine against the other side that has conceded the joint-most bonus points to opposition midfielders this season - West Ham hosting Brighton is your sign to start Katrina Gorry in GW 14. Even if she doesn't reach the highs of the reverse fixture - two goals in a 15-pointer - Gorry offers enough upside between her bonus points and occasional attacking returns to be interesting for a good game.

Forwards

James (c) Two starts amounting to 77 and 90 minutes in her last three games in all competitions for Lauren James are encouraging signs ahead of GW 14. The shot-happy James at the point of the champions' free-scoring attack should enjoy facing Everton at home. Chelsea have won the last five WSL games between these two 21-1 and beat the Toffees 4-1 in the FA Cup last Sunday. Likely heaps of attacking points to be had and, given James is currently only 7% owned, they'll be unique points too.

Russo Great fixture at home to Tottenham meets Fantasy WSL's second-top scoring forward in GW 14. Don't be caught without Alessia Russo for the North London Derby - she's scored in the last two WSL games against Spurs, was on a hot streak prior to the last two games against Chelsea and Manchester City, and is owned by over 40% of the game. Could hurt if you miss out.

Shaw Fancy the most exciting risk/reward equation of GW 14? Three consecutive substitute appearances for Khadija Shaw in all competitions probably makes you a bit nervous about her chances of a start on the weekend but you could be forgiven for being tempted by her record against Liverpool to risk reduced minutes. In the last three WSL games against the Reds, Bunny has scores of 16, 13, and 12, claiming top bonus each time. The upside is well worthwhile.
