With (another) City v Chelsea fixture, and Arsenal facing in-form Liverpool, Gameweek 17 means it's time to stop relying on those big names to bring home the bacon. Luckily, the Scout has your guide to the League's best picks right here.

Goalkeepers and Defence

Loeck

Fancy a second helping of visionary points? Melina Loeck's continued eligibility firms her up as one of the more attractive goalkeeping options in GW17. The bar to unlocking those visionary points remains temptingly low - three saves against a Leicester City side whose shots-per-game and on-target % have both sharpened in the new year. Plus, although Loeck's excellent 9-pointer last week was a pleasant surprise, it was Brighton's first WSL clean sheet since November. An encore isn't completely out of the question: that November clean sheet came against the Foxes in the reverse fixture.

Le Tissier and Riviere

An Aston Villa side on a desperate run of five straight league defeats, three of them without scoring versus Manchester United's stingy backline - this is the defensive fixture to target in GW17. The pair of Maya Le Tissier and Jayde Riviere, a couple of bonus point machines, are the ones most likely to offer something on top of the usual fare of clean sheet points. A double up's not the worst option in a week with Manchester City and Chelsea playing each other while Arsenal host Liverpool.

Holmgaard

Crystal Palace at home is hardly a guaranteed clean sheet but there are nevertheless a couple of reasons to consider Sara Holmgaard for GW17. First, Holmgaard's attacking threat might well bear fruit against an opponent that has only kept one clean sheet this season. Second, there's some evidence the matchup suits Holmgaard particularly well - see top bonus in a 5-pointer despite conceding and getting no attacking returns in the reverse fixture and an 18-pointer against last season's promoted side Bristol City on the final day.

Midfielders

Clinton

Some Manchester United attacking cover is necessary for GW17: opponents Aston Villa are in a torrid run of form and now dangling a solitary point above the relegation zone. Grace Clinton is United's best midfield asset and a top 5 midfielder overall - goal threat and bonus points upside could result in a very decent score. Shrug off last week and go again.

Hayashi

The game's best midfield matchup in Crystal Palace falls to Everton in GW17; their top scorer this season, Honoka Hayashi, is a straightforward choice. She's currently in her best goal-scoring form since arriving in England, scored in the reverse fixture, and although she's never been big on bonus, Palace at home is as likely for extras as it gets.

Summanen

Brighton last weekend was Eveliina Summanen's second start in a row since returning from injury and she played 90 minutes - a good sign she's once again fit enough for her normal workload. You can usually count on West Ham v Spurs to produce a few goals - 20 in their last 5 WSL meetings - and Summanen's set piece duties plus any open play threat really maximise the chances of getting in on that action. Plus, bonus is very much on the table - this fixture last season was a 7-pointer for Summanen powered by an assist and a bonus point.

Baltimore

With various other top midfielders saddled with some combination of a tricky fixture, injury, lack of returns, and insecure minutes, why not Sandy Baltimore? The last two are no problem - she's in favour with Sonia Bompastor and has three attacking returns in her last four. Manchester City have kept just one clean sheet in seven WSL games since Alex Greenwood went down injured, being hit for four each by Manchester United and Arsenal in that time. It's also encouraging that two of Baltimore's three bonus-point games this season were against Arsenal and Man United - points hewn from rock face are a specialty.

Forwards

Parris

Don't sleep on Brighton's attack against Leicester - the Foxes have only kept one WSL clean sheet since October, against struggling Aston Villa. Between her secure minutes and bigger, bonus-points-powered upside, Nikita Parris is best equipped to maximise the good game. In the reverse fixture in November, she scored the winner and grabbed two bonus points.

Gago

Much improved in front of goal in 2025, there's genuine form to recommend Everton's attack alongside the fixture - the visit of bottom side Crystal Palace - in GW17. New signing Kelly Gago has been rapidly integrated, starting their last five WSL games in a row (scoring three times) and playing no fewer than 89 minutes in their last three. There is her promise of visionary points via an ownership under 1% for any returns, offering a high ceiling to match those rock solid minutes.

Asseyi

Simply, Viviane Asseyi is a top 10 asset and a top 5 forward in Fantasy WSL, facing the league's second-worst defence in Tottenham in GW 17. Add an ownership of 6% and penalty duties to very secure minutes and you've got the prospect of big, unique points. Plus, Asseyi has collected bonus points an impressive seven times this season, including top bonus three times. Consistent, good fixture, high ceiling - Asseyi checks all boxes.
